Trip Itinerary "Fly in Bahía de los Angeles"

This is a 7-day all-inclusive adventure in Baja, from Bahía de los Ángeles to Cabo, flying on two private planes from San Diego CBX to Bahía de los Ángeles on day 1. Bahía de los Ángeles is a bay on the coast of the Sea of Cortez, popular for its sport fishing and beautiful natural surroundings, making it an ideal starting point for any expedition. This adventure will take us through perfect trails and offer amazing views, as adventure is the name of the game.

On day 1, which is fly day, we will explore Bahía de los Ángeles. The town is mainly a fishing camp, but has grown in popularity among tourists due to its position. From December to April, the great grey whales come to the bay, and it’s an exciting moment when you see them for the first time. The bay is also home to sea lions, dolphins, and lots of sea birds. You can also visit the Jesuit Misión San Francisco Borja, which was built from cantera stone and is located just outside the town. We have chosen Bahía de los Ángeles as our starting point for this epic adventure.

On day 2, we will travel from Bahía de los Ángeles to Santa Rosalia. We have planned day 2 to be our super adventurous day, with two routes. Route 1 is the normal 100% do-able direct trail. Route 2 is the route we plan on taking and will be extremely adventurous, with definitely some trail finding exploring around. Route 2 is still on the Cortez side, but if do-able, will put us just north of Santa Rosalia. This exploration trailfinding is what these trips are all about. Good friends, beers and yes - finding our way through the Baja wilderness... The route from Bahía de los Ángeles to Santa Rosalia is beautiful, and the trails are smooth, fast, and fun. White sand and endless cactus make for an amazing background while driving through this magnificent peninsula. Day 2 on trail is always a fun day as we kick off this epic trip, and we'll end in Santa Rosalia.

On Day 3 of our journey, we will be travelling from Santa Rosalia to Scorpion Bay, which is located in San Juanico. We will start early in the morning, as the day promises to be full of adventures. Our route is unique and unlike anything you have seen before, especially in Baja. We will cross the peninsula through towering canyons, filled with lush green vegetation and blooming flowers, which is a sight to behold. The trail will have tight switchback turns and off camber sections, guiding us up and over the Sierra San Pedro mountain range towards the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately, the shallow ruins of one of the first Baja Missions, Mission Guadalupe, were mostly destroyed by treasure hunters in the past. As we descend from the mountain range, the trail will straighten out and the speeds will pick up, but caution is still required due to the semi-rocky terrain. Our last leg of the day will be on a long, straight rolling hill road from La Venada to San Juanico Scorpion Bay. Although we plan to arrive in the daylight hours to enjoy the beautiful scenery, we must also be prepared for any unforeseen delays. Once we arrive at Scorpion Bay, we will refuel and check into the hotel to relax and enjoy drinks and food.

On Day 4, we will depart Scorpion Bay after a hearty breakfast at the Scorpion Bay Hotel at 8am. The first part of the day will be a scenic drive through the town of La Purisima before heading back out onto the dirt roads. From there, we will head east off-road into the mountains of Serria San Pedro towards San Jose de Comondu. The mountain range is a stunning sight, reminiscent of a scene from Jurassic Park, with its lush greenery. We will continue southbound and stop briefly at the small town of Misión San José de Comondú, which is home to yet another mission. From there, we will forge ahead towards the city of Loreto, which is located on the beachfront of the Cortez.

Day 5 - Loreto to San Carlos - We will start our day at 8am with a hearty breakfast at La Mission Hotel before driving up to Mission San Javier for sightseeing. We will spend approximately an hour at the mission, taking a tour of its history before heading south towards Agua Verde. We will make a quick stop at San Cosme, a private fishing estate that could be your next fishing vacation. Next, we will reunite with the Chase Crew on Hwy 1 for food and gas before heading to San Carlos, one of our favorite spots in Baja, known for its legendary trails. The trails are hard-packed on the bottom with soft sand covering the top, and are easily conquered by keeping your foot on the gas. We will put in some good miles here before making our way to Villas Mar y Arena, the hotel for the night, where we will enjoy amazing food and true Baja hospitality.

Day 6 - San Carlos to La Paz - We will leave San Carlos with excitement for the trails ahead. The trails from San Carlos to La Paz are the fastest and most fun in Baja, allowing for high speed and tons of whoops. The trails are hard-packed on the bottom with a soft layer of sand, offering some amazing drifting corners and endless views of the Pacific Ocean. We will meet up with the Chase Trucks for gas and lunch safari style before entering La Paz for the night.

Day 7 - La Paz to Cabo - On our final day, we will navigate our way out of La Paz and head south to our trail. We will make a slight detour to visit the Bahia de Los Metros (Bay of Dreams) before treating you to a 170+ mile drive down the East Cape to Cabo. This fast-paced, drifting road offers some truly amazing architectural sights. Before you know it, you will be in Cabo, rubbing your eyes and asking yourself "What have I just done?" after over 1500 miles of adventure.
