Trip Itinerary "Uncharted"

Off the Grid Expeditions is proud to bring you a whole new adventure, "Baja Uncharted" This new series of action packed adventures will take you way beyond the normal. A trip designed for the "extremely adventurous thrill seekers" most days will consist of about 200 + miles of driving and with have limited stopping on trail. This will NOT be like the normal expeditions we put on. You must be experienced and have some mechanical knowledge for working on your own UTV (Know how to change belts, tires and other mechanical issues) We will still have a lead UTV and a sweep UTV with mechanics and medics. Chase support will be on near by Hwys. If you encounter a bigger problem then you can handle our mechanics will aid in fixing your UTV. Our goal is to explore this amazing peninsula with Big Days and with Big Miles!!! This is not for the rookies !!!  Arrival time to our destinations each night  will depend on how the days goes. 10 gallons of Fuel and lunch must be carried on board with you on trail.  UTV perp and mechanical repair must be down at the end of each day no matter what time we get in.

Meet up time is 6am in Tecate at our secure paring lot (address will be emailed to you after registration and payment)

Day 1 - 250 + miles from Tecate to San Felipe - Tecate, La Rumorosa, Laguna Salada, Cohabuso Junction, Hwy 5, El Diablo, San Felipe, This will be a big day with an early morning start. Pack your own lunch and spare fuel.

THEDAY: The terrain will consist of extremely narrow rockey mountains trails with cliff ledges on the sides. Dry lake beds that could possibly be wet. Very fast dirt road that are well maintained. A few Hwy stages that will allow for a quick rest. Ending the day we'll be driving through the "El Diablo" Dry Lake Bed and in to San Felipe via the famous San Felipe whoops.

Day 2  -  200 Miles. San Felipe South through the washed into Matomi, South Hwy 5 drive with scenic view, Cut West up the Tractor Trail (not for the faint) Cross Hwy 1, North Catavina. Lunch and Fuel stop at Gonzaga Bay "Alfonsias" Hotel on the Cortez.

THE DAY: Starting off in the soft sand washes of San Felipe as we decend South through the rock ledges of the Matomi trail. Rocks and soft sand are on menu today so monitor your belt temps and engine heat. As we complete the first nail biting state of the day we'll have the pleasure of being right on the Sea of Cortez as we drive South down Hwy 5 toward Gonzaga Bay. We'll fuel up here grab some lunch at "Alfonsias" and be on our way. A short Hwy drive before the challenging "Tractor Trail" this almost non existent trail is hard enough to come down never mind doing it backwards and climbing the steep rockey narrow trail up and over the mountain that will take us over to the Cativina region of Baja. Time permitting Cativina offers some amazing sights we can go explore. Day 2 will end at the Mision Hotel in Cativina.

Day 3 -  160 Miles. Catavina North Rancho La Victoria, Cross over Hwy 1 to Punta San Carlos loop back to Hwy 1. Cross thtough the San Miguel mountain range into San Quintin.

THE DAY: Cativina is a top 5 of the most beautiful regions of Baja. amazing rock formations and cactus forests make for epic view's while driving through the remote desert of Baja. The trails will change from soft yet hard packed roads to dense rocky trails. Stage one starts off with a big Southern loop that will take us to the Pacific Ocean on a 60 mile ride and then back to Hwy 1 for a splash of fuel. Stage 2 will give us a chance to make up some time and we cut through the San Miguel mountain range on some super fast hard packed trails. We'll weave our way North through the Boojum tree and Cardon cactus forests before redirecting to the West toward San Quintin. The terrain will change to definitely more rockey and challenging trails. Day 3 will end in San Quintin at the Old Mill Hotel where Javier will have dinner waiting for us.

Day 4 - 200 + Miles. San Quintin North, Beach ride, to Colonet to Santo Tomas through Ensenada to HPR

THE DAY: Departing San Quintin on day 4 we'll start our way up North. Tide permitting we'll jump on the beach In San Quintin to Camalu then up the Pacific through Colonet on the fast hard packed dirt roads into San Vicente for fuel and lunch. The dirt trails will end for the day on Santo Tomas before we head through Ensenada and into Horse Power Ranch for the night.

Day 5 - 120 Miles. Ensenada to Laguna Hanson to Tecate over boarder. Home we go

THE DAY: Morning departure with a Hwy drive over to Ojos Negros for a splash of gas then North toward Laguna Hanson and through the pine forests back up to the Tecate boarder. This fast har packed road is fun but also slippery with a granular sand on the surface so drive to your ability. we'll have a few check up stops and meet with our chase crew before jumping in line and crossing the US Boarder.
