Full Itinerary
Day 1 - Tecate to San Felipe
It's an amazing day of driving with trails offering a variety of terrains. Starting in the pine forests of north Baja at 4500 feet altitude, you'll experience some of Baja's best-maintained trails. This serves as an awesome introduction to Baja. Lunch will be in "Valle T" before heading down Hwy 3 to San Felipe's top. Though El Diablo dry lake might be wet this time of year, it's still a great spot for drone footage of all the UTVs side by side. Afterward, we'll tackle the famous San Felipe washes, which are technical and challenging, requiring careful driving. The final stretch into San Felipe includes the notorious ZOO Road, known for its high-speed videos online with whoops the size of Volkswagens. We'll stay at the El Cortez Hotel, an epic beachfront hotel with a beautiful restaurant and bar on the sand.
Day 2 - San Felipe to Gonzaga Bay / Catavina
On day two, the adventure truly begins as we head out to the “never-never.” Once we leave San Felipe, we're on our own, relying 100% on our Chase support team. We'll navigate back into the sand highways of San Felipe, running some amazing fact trails. Lunch today will be in Gonzaga Bay, right on the Sea of Cortez. After lunch, we'll face the challenge of the "Tractor Trail," a nail-biting rocky hill climb. The day ends with a rocky trail leading to Hotel Mision Catavina.
Day 3 - Catavina to Bahía de los Ángeles
Starting early, we embark on a long journey toward the Pacific Ocean through a beautiful rock desert, home to various cacti species and unique rock formations. The trail is fast but rocky as we approach the ocean. After admiring the raw beauty of Baja, we head back toward the Cortez coast, navigating through washes and sometimes never-ending silt beds. We'll cross over to Bahía de los Ángeles, ending the day on the water's edge at a boutique hotel.
Day 4 - Bahía de los Ángeles to Santa Rosalia
Leaving Bahía de los Ángeles, we drive south through San Rafiel and El Barril, descending into the uncharted terrain, passing through the Sierra De San Francisco mountains and Punta Baja. We'll end the day in Santa Rosalia, a place steeped in history, with colorful narratives dating back to the Cochimi Indians and the discovery of copper.
Day 5 - Santa Rosalia to Scorpion Bay
After breakfast, we head back on the trail, passing volcanic islands and old jails built by Mexican settlers. The trails consist of faster dirt roads, offering stunning views. We'll end the day in Scorpion Bay, a small fishing village known for its epic surf spots.
Day 6 - Scorpion Bay to Loreto
Leaving Scorpion Bay, we embark on a beach drive down the Pacific, followed by a journey through La Purisima, Comondú, and the Mission San Javier. We'll end the day at La Mision Hotel in Loreto, enjoying dinner poolside with breathtaking views.
Day 7 - Loreto to San Carlos
After breakfast, we ride through mountains and dirt trails, eventually reaching Santa Domingo and San Carlos Sur, where we stay at a beachfront destination with amazing food and atmosphere.
Day 8 - San Carlos to La Ventana
Today, we enjoy high-speed trails with tons of whoops, taking in over 200 miles of endless trails. We'll meet up for gas and lunch before crossing over to the Cortez side.
Day 9 - La Ventana to Cabo
Navigating our way back, we make a detour to Bahia de Los Metros before driving 170+ miles down the East Cape to Cabo, ending our epic journey at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Our goal at Off the GRID Expeditions is to have a good time. With that said, being prepared and having the right tools/equipment can make everyone’s day much more enjoyable!

So why do we need a GPS?
The GPS is your life line when navigating these technical trails of Baja. Every turn has a surprise and without a well planned trail you would be lost in minutes. The GPS not only displays your exact route but it is also use for milage calculations for turns or and potential hazards as well as waypoints
-
Communication is key..
We use a VHF 55w radio with a preprogrammed channel to communicate from Utv to Utv. The operating channel is weather man (151.625) please make sure you have this preprogrammed into you're unit. All communication systems must wired into push to talk intercom system to your helmet. The VHF radios allow us to call out any potential hazards, milage, and just general communication amongst the group. Example ( Hazard mile 45.2 on right or "hey dude with the blue Can-Am you have a strap hanging under your Utv" )
-
Why because they save lives ......
Helmets are mandatory no questions asked. I know some ride with only head sets but with Off the GRID Expeditions you need to wear one. Goggles or full face shield as well !!!! You only have one head on your shoulders so use it wisely and protect it....
